| Well, friends (or probably just friend), I leave for Japan in a week and a half. A week from Friday. My flight departs at 6:04 a.m. I just hope I don't have to get to the airport at, like, 3.
My language skills have gone frighteningly downhill. My vocab is severely lacking (though sometimes I throw a little Chinese in). I need to do some Japanese cramming.
But, in less frightening news, I will be keeping a blog while I'm over there, mostly for the benefit of my family. And whatever friends choose to stumble upon it. Post pictures and such. But it won't be Xanga. I'll post a link here when I get it set up.

| played rugby yesterday in Little Rock, hung out with Arkansas friends = yay played with the Kansas City team = yay, but scary 'cause people I don't know scare me made friends = yay got recruited by the Memphis coach = we'll see got, well, kinda wasted afterwards = yay took a shower at the pitch = clean and drunk went out with rugby friends last night = yay got away with drinking a beer at a bar = yay got hit on, a couple times = boost for self-esteem was told, "you're wicked cute, but I'm going to be good," to which I replied, "too bad all I ever am is cute" = I'm not really sure... woke up at 9:30 a.m. = headache drove home still drunkish and hung over = boo alcohol wore off around 2:30 p.m., just for me to find out how sore I am = boo nap time = yay
All in all, I still hate people. Nonetheless, it was definitely a good weekend. | | |
| So it's 6:45 am and I'm up 'cause I really don't think I want to chance falling back asleep and seeing what happens. The only question is can I stay up 'til 9:30, be coherent at work for eight hours without falling asleep, and not fall asleep immediately when I get home and screw up my sleeping patterns? Wait, I can still catch 10 minutes of Buffy... | | |

| Yesterday I drove up to Fayetteville (or, more accurately, Bella Vista) for an end-of-the-year rugby get-together and today I drove back 'cause I had to work. And I got a really awesome farmer's tan/sunburn from hanging my left arm out the window for five and a half hours. It was fun. I ate and drank with rugby friends all afternoon in Bella Vista, sobered up just a little, snuck into a 21+ bar/club thing in Fayetteville, got more drunk with rugby friends, and got hit on by a forty-something year old man.
I learned two things about myself this weekend: I think I kinda like driving solo cross country (I hate driving in general), and I really value my friendship with Ellen. I don't understand it, but I'm glad it's there.
Oh, and Thursday commenced the second annual Planting of the Summer Vegetable Garden. Or, more correctly, Vegetable and Tomato Garden, because tomatoes are really fruits.
And yes, I am listening to Murder by Death's new album In Bocca al Lupo even though IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET (it's coming out Tuesday) because I preordered it and it arrived on Saturday because Murder by Death is just that awesome. I'm in love with them, and their cello.
